Hi John,
Sorry to have backed out of the group sessions with you all, but I must explain why this is...
At first, things went really well with finding my inner child and relating to all the people in my inner village, then on to setting up my "Safe Place" for Little Warren for when things got tough and he could go there..

But then things started to change for me after a few more sessions..I felt that after linking with so many characters inside me I got to feeling like I didn't know quite who I was anymore and this sort of scared me a bit.. In fact it scared me a lot especially when I felt my emotions were sort of going all over the place as a result of the depth of the work we had been doing.. 

I've needed this break, but I really do miss the work because I know it was going well for me, but somehow I just lost it ...
I really would like to come back soon to try again with maybe less intensity on my part ?? What do you think John ??

Please advise me as to what you feel happened ? And, if it would be good to continue where we left off or start again ?

Warren, you are not alone. Almost everyone gets this feeling after their first few sessions, and lots of people drop out without ever asking themselves the real reason. But I have noticed that this seems to happen just when things were going so well for them. Some, like you do ask why and some come back and become long term group members and make the most wonderful changes in their lives.

There are many reasons why self awareness can be scary at first, but I can't give you a short list because the causes are different for each person. But the scary feeling is much the same for everyone. Add to that the normal fear of changing especially if changing also involves becoming more self-empowered!

I am now becoming more aware that in my enthusiasm watching you grow in self-awareness I may have encouraged you to run before you could walk. I am developing some new processes which will teach individuals to take control of the speed of change themselves. So far these are having excellent results. I hope you come back to the group so we can show you how to do this.

Although I had already copied, with his generous permission most if not all of his articles from his interesting website I was pleasantly surprised at how much more was to be found in his book and I was amazed at all the energy, time and love that John must have invested to bring all this amazing material together! Every so often when I start doing inner child work with someone they are
so full of enthusiasm.. Yet quite suddenly  they drop out and are never
heard of again. What is it that is so strong that it overrides all the
initial enthusiasm?
Today I got a mental picture of us as fishes beaching ourselves near a
busy highway, because we think we need to cross it.  The beach represents
our current level of conscious awareness, where we are so clumsy. The
highway represents our little inner child's view of life's dangers.  To our inner child
crossing the highway appears to be the only way to reach safety.  The ocean we are trying to escape from represents our subconscious, with its vast resources. Yet that's where we are so at home. 
If we can just see that we fishes need to get back in the ocean there will  be no need for our inner children to feel scared, to waste time trying cross the road or floundering on the beach.

I have been looking for an explanation for my INNER CHILD for years..
I Love your new website..
I will be following it very closely in the future for further developments..
It has helped me enormously in reconnecting to my inner child and working together to increase my self-awareness and self-empowerment..
Working also with  your book GROWING AWARENESS has enabled me to come this far in my own relationship with my partner..
Keep up the good work and keep on creating Love and Protection for INNER CHILDREN around the world..

SITTING ON MY COMPUTER TONIGHT CAME ACROSS YOUR SITE (INNER CHILD). I HAVE JUST FINISHED SOME VOICE DIALOGUE WORK WITH A COUNSELLOR AND RELATE TO YOUR WORK A BIT.

MY COUNSELLOR HAS BEEN TRYING TO GET TO MY INNER CHILD AND AM STILL HAVING TROUBLE WITH IT, CAN'T QUITE GET THE GRASP OF IT JUST YET, BUT KNOW THAT WHEN I DO THE WORK I FEEL LIKE I AM REALLY GETTING TO KNOW MYSELF AND THIS IS HELPING ME TO "BE MYSELF AGAIN" THROUGH MY INNER CHILD IT'S LIKE I'M FINDING MYSELF AGAIN.

I HOPE YOU ALL KNOW WHAT I'M TRYING TO SAY.

I'D LOVE TO KEEP THIS LINE OPEN FOR WORKING WITH MY INNER CHILD IN FUTURE AND MAYBE GET TO KNOW A FEW OTHER INNER CHILDREN.
